HANNE'S JOURNEY

“Life’s too short to do something you don’t love.”

That’s how Hanne describes her decision to leave Denmark in the early 1980s and pursue her dream of working in fashion in Italy.

This realization came after the loss of her beloved sister, Lone, who took her own life after years of struggling with mental health and her place in the world.

HANNE BLOCH was born from this moment of clarity that "life's too short" - a reminder that life is fragile, and every day must be seized & lived with purpose.

After two decades designing for the iconic fashion house Missoni, Hanne returned to Denmark, and this exact mantra inspired her to start her own brand at the age of 50.

"A FLIRT BECAME LOVE

With no other qualifications than strong sewing skills, Hanne Bloch was accepted to one of the exclusive design schools in Rome. One day, five years later, she is in one of the most sought-after jobs: as a designer at the great fashion house Missoni in Milan. The industry is cutthroat, and there is no room for failures, but she doesn't regret the leap she took.

A holiday in Italy turned Hanne Bloch's life upside down. Before she went on a summer holiday in Rome, she worked as a nurse in Aarhus. When she returned home, she immediately quit her job, sold her apartment, and a few months later she had moved to the Italian capital.

It could sound as if a summer fling had become serious - and it had. Hanne Bloch's new love was Italian, but not of flesh and blood. After two days of holiday in Rome, she realized that she had ended up on the wrong shelf. And something had to be done about that.

So on the second day of her Rome vacation she got hold of a phone book and looked up design schools. The next day she had an appointment with the principal of the Accademia di Alta Moda."
